My Unfiltered Take on Pornhub

I’ve been using Pornhub for years now, it’s one of the real porn OG’s. It’s an easy site for me to review, as I’ve probably used it hundreds of times 😜

Pornhub has put serious time and thought into its site layout and design; it’s clean, dark-themed and works exactly how a free porn tube site should.

After spending some time exploring the whole site and testing it, I found some awesome new features that I didn’t even realise existed, like ‘Shorties’. Plus, I found a small exploration issue and free account limitations for the videos.

One of Pornhub’s biggest talking points right now is how the free experience feels like it’s being deliberately made worse, pushing users to pay for their premium service. It’s not unusual, but even I’ve noticed the push.

Overall, Pornhub is one hell of a porn site and It’s super easy to use. But it’s clear to me that the experience is noticeably better if you’re willing to pay for Premium.

My Testing Methodology

I spent about 90 minutes reviewing Pornhub on my laptop, then an additional 120 minutes on my mobile. I went through each section of the site to fully understand what’s on offer. I tested its features, browsed the video library, checked streaming quality and video playback, and paid close attention to the ads.

Detailed Ranking Breakdown

Video Library: 10/10

• Pornhub has one of the largest content librarys out there, but its not the biggest by far. But it does have a high content standard. In 2020 they did a purge and removed millions of videos from unverified users and videos that didnt meet their quality criteria.
• Pornhub has an incredible choice of porn to choose from, covering majority of the categories, such as MILF, Lesbian, Amateur, and Big Dick.
• Pornhub recently launched a new “Sapphic” section (currently in Beta). It’s targeted at lesbian content, which is nice if you want to solid filter. I consider myself a pansexual, so I often switch between sexual filters.
• Pornhub’s library is big, but some of the best full-length scenes from the major studios are locked behind Premium. Free users will get a lot of short clips or lower-quality versions of the really good stuff.
• Shorties. If you like short form content like me, then shorties is basically TikTok but for adult content. Tbh, I thought this was the best thing I’ve used in a while, I love the randomness of it, and the videos can be short or long. There is a defeintly a more focused video style on first person view. I got lost watching videos on it for over an hour 😅. I will be coming back to use shorties again!

Player & Streaming: 9.0/10

• I have used Pornhub for years, and I have never once had a streaming problem. There servers are strong and reliable, which is one of the major qualities of this site.
• The player tools are pretty much standard, you can choose your streaming quality, volume, video playback speed, large sized player and full sized player. They have a toggle for auto play which can be quite useful if your lazy and just want the next video to load.

• My favourite part about Pornhubs player is that the uploader can create timestamps, which means you know where all the good bits are. If your like me, I usually have to jump to the scene where the performer is literally cumming (my favourite part 💦😋).
• One downside is that free users are now limited to 1080p quality (which is still pretty good). Pornhub hosts 4K videos, but these higher resolutions appear to be restricted to those without a Premium subscription.

Ad Experience: 6.5/10

• On desktop, there are ads everywhere, pre-roll, side banner and footer. I know Pornhub is providing one of the best free porn sites in the world, but the ads are a little intrusive.
• On mobile, the ads are more annoying as you have a more confined screen area, you have the pre-roll ads, but then you have them above and below every video. They are also in the footer.
• They do offer a paid service called PornhubX or PHX, which completely removes all ads.

Mobile Experience: 10/10

• Pornhub has spent time, money and dedication getting their engineers to create an awesome web experience on mobile. Everything is just so easy and accessible.
• I like the little related tag bubbles, which you can click and be shown videos in that category. It’s a nice feature when you’re just speedily browsing through moods.
• Pornhub have basically merged the desktop and mobile design into one flowing design structure. As the majority of their traffic is mobile-focused, it makes sense that they’ve done this. Pornhub will always be at the forefront of site advancements.

Design & Usability: 9.5/10

• Pornhubs website design is the standard for tube sites, it has been designed with the user in mind. Over the years, they have perfected it’s design to allow the user to have the best experience possible.
• The dark theme is always a hands down win, who wants a bright contrast site blarring whilst watching porn at night? Pornhub respects the fact that we dont want out iris’s burnt out by blinding white, which is why they never included a toggle to light mode. Black on dark grey is a must!
• I did find one design flaw which actually frustrates me alot. When you click on a video of interest, then scroll below, the related videos does not have an infinity scroll or multipage option. It has a ‘view more’ button, but it only allows you to click it once. This is annoying, as when the video is showing related videos, I am lazy and just want to keep scrolling, or have the chance to go to the next page of related videos. Other porn tube sites have it, so for this, I have to mark the usability score down.

Search & Discovery: 10/10

• I tested the main search function to look for a variety of fetish porn categories, such as hentai, bondage and foot fetish. The results we’re suprisingly good. Pornhub actually has just about every type of porn content your into. If your into the dirty stuff, then you’ll be happy to know they have piss porn.
• Pornhubs tagging system is clean and accurate. Reliable tagging systems are so important for finding the videos you are searching for, and Pornhub pushes its uploaders to use the correct tags needed to help the user find the exact type of video you are looking for.

• Pornhub has both a tagging system and a categories system, combining the two allows them to really dial in on the users search requests. Pornhub clearly gets a clear 10 out of 10 for search and discovery!

Trust & Safety: 9.0/10

• Pornhub has a Trust and Safety help center, showing complete transparency of everything they openly support and provide to ensure they are compliant and provide a safe experience for their users.
• Very few sites get a 10 out of 10 rating for their trust & safety, and Pornhub wont be one of them. My reason for this is their ads that push you towards external sites. Now I know that they curate and only advertise strong established adult sites, but Pornhub itself has no control over all these other companies, which leaves a small chance for potential risk.

My Personal Experience

For those who know me, reviewing adult sites is actually really fun. I get to masturbate, find flaws, and stumble across new features at the same time.
